Question of the day #147 Banned from Cricket!

    Ruling apartheid government in South Africa objected to his inclusion in English cricket team because he wasn't white. It resulted in isolation of South Africa from International cricket.

  2. Answer : Basil D'Oliviera had previously emigrated to England from South Africa and was included in the England touring squad to South Africa in 1968, but the ruling apartheid government in South Africa objected to his inclusion because he wasn't white. The tour was subsequently cancelled.
    The incident marked the start of South Africa's sporting isolation during the apartheid era.
    That spelled the end of career for players such as Peter and Graeme Pollock and Barry Richards.
